Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27 he began his studies at the National Theatre School of Denmark at which he was graduated in the year 1995. In addition to his role in the drama show telecast in the world under the name The Killing, he subsequently participated in two other critically popular Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also played a major role in the BBC drama Sherlock where he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He played the role of the Russian president in the American television show House of Cards. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 as Ride in the Storm.In addition to his mother tongue Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English, and he has mastered various accents. He has claimed that his brother and he initially learned English by listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches of comedy.
